Steele, captain of Highland Boy district, opened the meeting. John Bolic announced announc-ed names of wardens. ! John E. Dahlstrom spoke on different divisions of defense and "What to do in case of an air raid". George Knudsen, safety engineer for the Utah Copper company, spoke on "First Aid Classes' . He said that knowledge of first aid is essential to every day living as well as in time of war. As soon as first aid classes in Copperfield are completed, first aid class schedules will be announced for adults of Highland Boy. The meeting was under chairmanship chair-manship of R. G. Steele. Miss Ada Duhigg is captain of women's civilian defense activities activi-ties in Highland Boy and Miss Marie Button is in charge of Red Cross sewing and knitting classes. class-es. A three-act comedy will be presented at Highland Boy school Monday, January 26, as a civilian civil-ian defense fund benefit. "Always "Al-ways In Trouble" is the name of the farce being directed by Mrs. Andrew Jones. Those in the cast are Mike Tomas, Andrew Jones, Pete Chanak, John Bolic, Joe Distefano, Morinda Grange, Lily Bolic and Manda Chanak. Mrs. George Smilanich and Miss Mary Loverich were Salt Lake City visitors Monday. ( Mr. and Mrs. Dan Cfiiirich and daughter of Murray were visitors visit-ors at Pete Loverich's home Saturday. Sat-urday. Nick Yengich left Thursday for Grass Valley, Calif., to visit his sister, Mrs. C. J. Roth. Mrs. Lucille Pazell" left Monday Mon-day to spend a few weeks with Mr. and Mrs. George Conish of Sandy. Eli Tomas and Nick Yengich attended a banquet and Boy Scout meeting in Salt Lake City at South high school Friday, January 9. A candy pull was enjoyed Monday evening at the home of Marie Azzelio. Miss Ada Duhigg, Barbara Gleaves and Mildred Muhar were in charge of refreshments. Annie Gerbich told a story of "A Little Chinese Girl". Others enjoying the meeting, meet-ing, games and refreshments were Annie Uzelac and Helen Jeffcott. Walter Bolic, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nick Bolic and who has been employed the past six months by the Kraft Cheese corporation cor-poration in Salt Lake City, resigned re-signed his 1 position Saturday to go into the United States army. Mr. Bolic expects to be inducted about February 15. The sixteenth birthday of Miss Betty Brimhall, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Brimhall, was occasion for a nicely-planned party the evening of January 8 at the family home. Twenty-four guests enjoyed games and luncheon. |
