Train Itobbrrs Horb Yan WntT, Ohio, July IS. A bold attempt at train robbing was made late tonight on the Cincinnati, Dayton A. Michigan Ilsllroad. Three men boarded the engine of the north bound ltassenger train at L.c-terpri-se, Ohln, and attacked Engineer Engi-neer Yandevender and tlie fireman Willi hammers and coupling-pins, knocking both senseless. They did not succeed in stopping the train, howivir, probably owing to tbe plucky fight made by the trainmen, aud lumped ofTbeforo reaching Yan Wirt. The engineer and fireman wcruloth lying senseless in tlie cab of the locomotive, and tbe train, which should have stopped at Van Wert station, rushed through tbe yard at a rate of t ent -five miles au hour. Here it collided with a switch engine and engineer Yandevender Yande-vender was found dead in tbe wreck. The fireman Is still unconscious, uncons-cious, and It cannot be learned whether whe-ther the engineer was killed by the train robbers or met death in the collision. None of the passengers wcreeerloul Injured.
