A letter sent to the Oanatitulloii by a woman now living lu a Mexican town makes a pitiful appeal to American women and citizens for money to helpherlnbcrdistriss. The writer to May Inei McCaW aged IS, wife of Judge S. T.McCabe. She's a native of Texas. Her husband was county Judge of Hidalgo Count , aud being wounded In the foot by one Max Stein lu Juue last, cruttui tbe Rio Grande to Rey nosa, Mexico, to secure medical aid. Stein, It appears ap-pears from si letter, persecuted the woman with his attentions and on one occasion it Ued htrby force and attemi-ted to nuke her comply with his wishes. She was ill several w rtks after and gave birtli to a dead child. After her recoiery, Stein still followed her, ii'ing threats, and also circulated stories of a slanderous slander-ous nature concerning her. Finally sliemetblm Sunday night, Augun 17th. in Rcynoaand, on hto renewing re-newing his threats, shot him througli the heart. For this she was arrested, and to now In prison at Maiamorto. She begs that money be tent to her there or to Don Juan Domingu, Ueynosa, Tamiulipas, Mexico. |
