Thurman and the democrats of the nation have made tbe occasion one to do homago to the distinguished mentor. At the Armory in the evening a thousand guests, representing the supreme intelligence in-telligence and leadership of tho party, will be seated at a banquet given by the Thurman club. The city is In gala attire. From early in the morning morn-ing every incoming train brought a contingent of prominent democrats from abroad. Ex-President Graver Cleveland came In on the early train, and later called on Thurman. Cleveland Cleve-land assure 1 the old Roman that the greetings this day from all quarters of the country In person, y letters and by wire were but the spontaneous expression of a grateful grate-ful people toward one whose proud, unswerving career had won for him th'e veneration of his party and tbe admiration of a nation. Thurman expressed his hearty appreciation of tbe meeUng. At 11 o'clock a publio reception took j lace at the Go ver-nor'a ver-nor'a office, where President Cleve-lanrf Cleve-lanrf met many distinguished representatives re-presentatives of that party. The reception given to Cleveland at tbe Capitol lasted till 12:30. The multitude passed in review before him and shoek bis hand. An informal dinner was subsequently subse-quently tendered Cleveland by Governor Campbell; Congressman Springer, Daniel Lamont and Congressman Con-gressman Outhwalte. At the banquet ban-quet tbl evening an address ef welcome wel-come will bo delivered by John J LenLv president of the Thurman club, and Joseph H. Outhwalte, toasttnasier.
