Yesterday afternoon an officer was approached by a well dressed individual w ho stated that he had lost his alie the, night beforu aud would like to be assisted in recovering recover-ing it if irascible. The party refused to give his uame, but stated that he was a recent re-cent arrival iu this 'It, aud in taking tak-ing the sights had drank more than be could couttnlently carry. Some time during tbe ccning he wandered wan-dered down Twenty fourtli Street in Uie direction of the depot, taking his val!e with Uiem. He sat down ou the edge of the sidewalk to rest a little and fell asleep. After slumbering a short time he was aroused by a gentleman who escorted bim to, a room in the Broom Hotel. When he awoke In Uie morning he discovered that his valise was gone. The officer made inquiries and learned that a gtntieman named Koch was tbe party who found Uie man ssleepon the sidewalk. When Mr. Koch discovered Uie man he had no valise. It is presumed that the satchel was stoleu w hile tbe mannas slumbering.
