Show Playground Activities'' By Bailey Santistevan, Director The Copperton Cowboys, led by Bob and Dick Jenkins,, won the first quarter championship in the Peewee league. On this team are Tommy Brown, catch-I catch-I er; Bobby Pullan, outfielder; Boyd Stoddard, shortstop; Earl DeCol, a smooth-working left-handed left-handed pitcher, and Warren Sumnicht, outfielder. , Victor Roblez has his team hustling in an effort to finish on top this quarter. On his roster we find Ted Harris, hard-hitting outfielder; the Garahana brothers, bro-thers, Tommy at shortstop, Johnny John-ny as catcher and Paulino as pitcher. Menaro Mochizuki, Rudy Pino and Elias Roblez are hardhitting hard-hitting members of the club. Dick "Eight Ball" Roblez, is the mascdt and he takes care of the key to the pitcher's box.' Copperton Giants, led by Lynn Pett, is one or the stronger clubs of the league. They are well up in standings and present tough competition for any team. Rufus Cowdell, pitcher, and Lynn Pett, catcher, are the battery mates. Others on the roster are Wayne Ray, shortstop; Ray Williams, left field; Gene OlsenJ first; Don Stoddard, third, and Ray Pett, centerfield. 4 , .The Bangtails, k'd by Cal Crump of Lark, are on the up trade. This team is composed, of oys from every part of Bingham Bing-ham district. Cal Nelson is shortstop short-stop and pitcher; Billy Boren, pitcher and outfielder; Blaine Peterson, first, and Don Gress-man, Gress-man, second, and George Dimas, third and pitcher. All these boys are good hitters and fielders. Jimmy Mathis has entered a I team under the name of J. C. Penney company. Don Lipsey, Bobby Bailey, Don Throckmorton Throckmor-ton and Billy Edvick are on the team. .Bingham Meat team, led by Roy Montoya and Larry West, are out in front of the Popsicle league. Roy Williams, who now lives in Richmond, Utah, has spenall week at the playground. Roy is a fine bugler and has been our bugler bug-ler this week at the daily flag raising ceremony. Hope you will be our visitor more often, Roy. The following girls from Lark have been on the playground daily playing Softball: Donna Reed, Shirley Reed, Darlene Hunt, Joyce Brynolf, Gloria Franks, Beverly Gressman, Joyce Gressman, Marion Nelson, Joy i Reading and Myrlene Wilcox. Girls from Copperton are Dona Gay Grant, Catherine King, Patricia Pa-tricia Bennion, Maureen Buckle, Rae and Ruth Barnett, " Joyce Hansen, Norma Nicholl, Lorraine Tobiason, Carol Pearson, Jenna Vee Olsen and Janet Groves. These two girl teams play soft-ball' soft-ball' daily, learning how to throw hit and field. I wouldn't be surprised sur-prised but what one of these days the girls will become proficient enough to have a good girls soft-ball soft-ball team in the community. In spite of the heat our playground play-ground has been filled to capacity capa-city the past three weeks. Average Aver-age daily attendance is 165. O |
