| Show CHILD WELFARE ELFARE PLAN Of WORK FOR FOA AUXILIARY Number of Orphan Children Children Chil Chit dren Greatly on Increase Declares Mrs Franklin Lee Bishop at Banquet There are m more re than wo women women wo- wo men in the United States the mothers moth moth- I ers era wives sisters and sweethearts of f the boys who served their Country country country coun Coun- try in the world war who stand ready and willing to serve the American L Legion gion of which they are auxiliary members declared Mrs Franklin Lee Bishop national president of the American Legion auxiliary in her address before the I officers officer of ot the state department nt of the legion and auxiliary and their friends at a banquet given en in fn her honor by the organization of which she is president at the Hotel Utah Saturday evening The great work worl which this or organization organization or or- will take up d during rIng the present year will be hospitalization and child welfare Mrs Bishop said The legion with the h help lp of the auxiliary has prepared to make great strides in the child welfare re rework work this year A large sum of money is available for the work and much interest is being displayed throughout the country Many states are aiding in the work and two large homes for the care of orphaned children have already been contributed Mrs Bishop said MANY NEEDY CHILDREN The number of orphaned children have increased greatly during the past few years in the United States Mrs Bishop continued There are thousands of needy needy children children whose fathers are lying in France These children must be he taken talen care of ol so the duty has been taken over by bythe bythe bythe the legion and its auxiliary she said We Va of of the auxiliary appreciate the fact that the legion permits us to work woric with them and through them thorn In taking over the greater share of this work Mrs Bishop said We Ve think we are better qualified than any others to take care of ot the orphaned children of the boys who fought for us and to visit and comfort the disabled boys boys' themselves who are lying in the hospitals toda today she said 1 rs Bishop told of some of th the experiences in hospital work throughout the country and of the work worle which was expected to be ac accomplished accomplished ac ac- in this line during the present year ear I MRS PRESIDES Mrs 1 O.
