Show A H.E BUSINESS. In Enterprise That Is Hiking It self Fell. About three years ago tlie Burton Bur-ton Gardner Company started business busi-ness in this city. Its lines then were sewing machines, combination fence, wire mattresses etc Trade rapidly Increased, and last August the company launched out with a lumberyard. Now a new saw and planing mill has been I laced in, and tho company has the largest grounds of any similar organization In town. At the corner of Eighth South Street aud the State Road, two and a lialf acres are completely occupied in tlio iHislnt-ss aud over oO men and S teams arc employed. Four fence machines ma-chines arc In constant operation to meet tlie demands for the combination combina-tion fence, both city and farm. During Dur-ing the past three months over $10,-00') $10,-00') worth of fencing alone has been sold. Last fall a two-story biick building build-ing 49x60 feet was built for the mattress mat-tress factory, and now a portion of it will have to be removed to the twostory building, 40x110 feet, which has just been erected. In the wire mattress department six machines are steadily working, and a vast quantity of mattresses Is manufactured man-ufactured weekly. Theyarecomlng into such general use that at this rate the compani has to look sharp to fill its orders. In the planing and saw mill the most modern machinery Is being put In place, and will be In full operation in a few days. Hash, doors, moulding, rustic, and everything every-thing necessary in woodwork for building will be furnished. The motive power for propelling the machinery Is electricity, supplied sup-plied by the street railway company. At present a 15 horse motor is running, run-ning, and a 23 horse Is to be added Inafewdayr. Tlie enterprise that has been exhibited ex-hibited in the management of the company's business is most commendable, com-mendable, and has brought Its fruit In the marked prosperity that has attended all Its transactions. |
