Walker, Ksu.., W. a McCoruick, Esq , and other leading citizens, in relation to the holding of a grand concert by the Choral Society la the Tabernacle, In this city, is re--eivecU In answering we would say that we have frequent applications for the use of the Tabernacle for the same or similar purposes, with proposals pro-posals for large monetary considerations', consider-ations', which we have always declined, de-clined, but in this instance we have decided to grant tbe request, on the condition named in both communications communi-cations that after the expenses are paid the balance shall be devoted to charitable purposes. We are always al-ways pleased to lend our aid in every consistent manner for the promotion pro-motion of music and the kindred arts, that will tend to the elevation and intructIon of the poopie. Three distinct programmes will be rendered. The knowledge that the whole is be under the personal direction direc-tion of Prof. Evan Stephens, and that the Choral Society will render the programmes, is sufficient assurance assur-ance that everything will be of the mo'-t ennobling and enjoiable order, and will be rendered tn magnificent mag-nificent style.
