Show Painful Accident. Last Monday evening a runaway occurred in tlie lane leading west from town which resulted in pain fully injuring Jlr. John Toombs, one of the enirgetic proprietors of the livery stable here. Jlr. Toombs wasdrivingdowu tlie street, having hitched to the wagon the identical horse which dashed through a crowd near the Iogn House corner and injured several parties some time ago. Hitched up with the animal was a colt, which was be log trained to work. The wag-on wag-on contained a hay rack, upon which was loaded a quantity of lumlieranda mowing machine, while slung to the rear was a sulkv hay rake. Jlr. Toombs had reach, il the vicinity of the railroad track, and, as the lumber slipped forward far enough to strike the horses, he got off to push It hack. While he was on the ground the animals started to run, and dashlnr forward he seized one of them by the bridle. This guided them into the lane fence, and dashing along it, the team threw Jlr. Toombs between it ard the fence. He was "rolled" along against the fence between the team and wagon their full length, and then struck by tlie rake. John Knowles and Frank ltaugh, who were in a wagon near by, saw the accident and rendered immediate assistance. Jlr. Toombs was taken to the residence of Jlr. Hickman, Second Street, neat Jfaln, and Dr. Snow was called to attend him. Tlie runaways, after going a short distance, dis-tance, stopped from sheer exhaustion, exhaus-tion, having accomplished but very little damage outside of the Injuries to their driver.
