A few minutes later the streets were flooded two feet deep with water, the first time In the town's history. AH the railroads rail-roads are inipas&ablb below town. OMEAT FLOOD IX AUSTRALIA. Ad-vlces Ad-vlces from Sydney, per steamer Zea-laniha, Zea-laniha, state that the greatest flood In the history of Australia occurred on April IStli at Itourke, on the River Darling. The river broke through the embaukment surrounding surround-ing the town and submerged it to a depth of three feet, lljurke ts now in tho midst of an Island sea forty miles wide, aud many of tliu building build-ing are collapsing. tornado IX OHIO. Cleveland, May 10. Tlio Leadcr'4 Akron, Ohio fpecialr At 5:30 this evening, In thu midst of a most terrible cloudburst, this city was struck by tho worst tornado ever known hereabouts. The storm struck thu south irt of thecity aud tore through the Fifth, Fourth and Second wards, doing a damage dam-age which cannot bo estimated estimat-ed at this wriUng, but fully 100 buildings were completely demolished, demol-ished, and hundreds mora were badly damaged. The house of Dominick dreader was unroofed and Mrs. Greader was slightly injured. in-jured. Passing along Ltruwn,lCIIiiu and Wheeler streets, a dozen or more houses were more or less damaged, some being moved bodily from their foundations aud others completely wrecked. The wind struck Gcbhart Herman's Her-man's house as thu family, consisting consist-ing of nine persons, had just sat down to supper, aud the lioue was badly damaged. All tbe occupants were more or less bruUed. Herman was pinned down in tbe debris, aud only tl'e energy of despair when lie saw lire near him enabled him to extricate hlmstlf. Iteturning, he found his little girl burulug by thu overturned stove, and before the flames could be extinguished she was frightfully burned about the neck aud limbs. A Cisr t'ompnnj. Fnllnre.
