Show Personal News Notes Mrs. Mary M. Oakes was a visitor visi-tor in Springville last Thursday and in her honor, Mrs. Ethel Weight entertained a few close friends at a luncheon at her home in the afternoon. Mrs. Donna Knudsen, accompanied accompa-nied by Mrs. Gene Averett, were in Salt Lake 'City Sunday to visit the former's husband, Harold Knudsen, who recently returned from the South Pacific and is recovering re-covering from malaria fever at a Salt Lake City hospital. Dr. and Mrs. Joseph L. Pace (Pauline Clyde) and their two sons were week-end guests at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Clyde. Dr. Pace is stationed at the Navy Air base in Fallon, Nevada. Mrs. Mae W. Johnson of Provo, a former resident of this city, has just had another of her poems published. The poem, "Irrides-ence," "Irrides-ence," is being published in the Triad Anthology of American Verse volume by the Falmouth Pubiahing house, Portland, Me., according to word received by the author. Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Conover, accompanied by Carl Erickson, manager of the Intermountain Bindery of Salt Lake City, and Mrs. Erickson, left Saturday for Chicago, 111., to spend two weeks on business. They plan to return about Feb. 6th. Mrs. Vera B. Stokes and baby son, John David of Salt Lake City visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Bartholomew, and other relatives rel-atives here. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Harmer and son of Payson, visited relatives rela-tives and friends in the city Sunday. Sun-day. They came especially to visit Mrs. Mary J. Finley on the occasion occa-sion of her 87th "birthday." " Mrs. G. A. Dunsdon of Glen-wood Glen-wood Springs, Colo., spent a few days of the past week with her sister, sis-ter, Mrs. A. E. Jacobsen and family, fam-ily, in this city. Mrs. A. C. Chader, Mrs. Lester Averett and Mrs. Arch Banner were in Provo on Saturday to attend at-tend the full day's session of a Girl Scout Leadership training course. First Lt. Elizabeth Hogan of the U. S. Army Nurses Corps, Saginaw, Mich., is a guest this week of Miss Lucille Crandall of this city. During her stay she is being extensively enterained. On Tuesday evening, Lt. Hogan, Miss Crandall and her parents. Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Crandall, were dinner guests of Miss Joie Bachelor at Provo, recruiting officer of Mun-cie, Mun-cie, Ind. On Tuesday, they visited visit-ed the Art gallery and were interested inter-ested in viewing some of the same artists' work which they had seen in galleries in France and Germany. On Wednesday, Miss Crandall and her guest were in Salt Lake City and on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, with Mr. and Mrs. Crandall, Cran-dall, they will attend the Market Week Association displays in Salt Lake and the two girls expect to have an enjoyable time comparing compar-ing U. S. styles with those they recently saw in Europe. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Tull left Wednesday evening for Chicago, 111., where they expect to make their home. Open house was held Sunday afternoon and evening many of their friends calling, and a lovely gift was present the couple by a group of friends. Refreshments Re-freshments were also enjoyed. Capt. and Mrs. Tom C. Wilson of Washington D. C, are guests of Miss Bonnie Child at the home of her parent, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Child, enroute to visit relatives in Seatle, Wash. |
