In their honor a number of .parties .par-ties have been given by friends and others are planned., for the very near future. The bride was complimented wdth a shower given the Saturday before - her marriage by Miss Norma Brockbank. Games were played and recordings made of favor sentiments. Also the group presented the guest of honor with a lovely piece of luggage and the hostess served a nicely arranged lunch. A group of fellow students and friends were entertained at a bachelors'" party given by Robert Thorn at the Silver Star Cafe, to compliment the groom before his marriage and guests at this function func-tion included: Robert Thorn, Ray Lawrence of Salt Lake City, Ted Davis of Provo, Russell Palfrey-' man, LaRell Francis, Dean Packard, Pack-ard, Fred Childs, Kent Miner and the groom. Richard and Joann Blackett Sumsion Holiday Honeymoon On Coast Awaits Couple Wed In S.L Temple Dec. 9 One of the Iovliest weddings of the mid-winter seas-son seas-son was that of Miss Joann Blackett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Blackett and Richard Sumsion, son of Mr. and y : with lace yoke, peplin and long sleeves. She carried a beautiful crescent shaped bouquet of white roses centered with an orchid with white knotted ribbon streamers strea-mers edged with lace., Her veil fell finger-tip length from a crown of seed nearls. Mrs. J. M. Sumsion. The ceremony took place December 9, in the Salt Lake Temple and the following follow-ing evening, a reception honored the young couple in the Second ward hall. The bride was charmingly attired at-tired in traditional white satin Mrs. JoAnn S. Bjarnson was matron ma-tron of honor and Miss Norma Brockbank, maid of honor. Attending At-tending as bridesmaids were, Miss Belva Hair of Pocatello, Ida., Miss Dickie Jane Huntington and Miss Nadine Snow. With exception of Mrs. Bjarnson who wore pale green, the attendants were attired at-tired in pink with matching bouquets bou-quets and all other details of the reception emphasized the colors of pink and green. Little Mary Jane Bird was flower girl and carried a bouquet of pink camellias. Robert Thorn was best man to the bridegroom. Others in the receiving line included in-cluded parents of the bride and groom. Mrs. Blackett chose tomato lame for her daughters wedding and Mrs. Sumsion wore . fushia crepe. Each gown was accentuated accentu-ated with an orchid corsage. Acting as host and hostess for the occasion were Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Brockbank and Mr. and Mrs. N. Foster Anthon. The gift room was in charge of Mrs. Lu-ella Lu-ella Whyte of Salt Lake City, Mrs. Merle Packard and Mrs. Belle W. Childs and they were assisted by June Thorn and Marlene Stewart. Girl friends of the bride, Norma Sumsion, Pauline Boyer, Louise Lowe and Joylene Rawle, served. The wedding featured an entertaining en-tertaining program announced by Toastmaster Clarence Jensen. Paul Thorn gave a toast to the groom and Mrs. Mamie Hjorth toasted the bride. Donetta and Bobbie Anthon entertained with guitar duets; Bonnie Baxter, a vocal solo, accompanied by Shirley Ann Cot-trell; Cot-trell; Robert Thorn and Norma Brockbank, piano duets. Mrs. Ella Reynolds gave advice to the newlyweds. new-lyweds. Cut flowers and tall white tapers ta-pers decorated the entrance and amusement hall and centering the serving table, was a pretty three-tiered wedding cake, topped with a miniature temple with white tapers and a miniature bride and groom on the side. The newlyweds are enrolled at the Brigham Young University and are planning a holiday honeymoon honey-moon trip to Pasadena, Calif., to |
