Show - Tisjins Observe 82nd Birthday Monday, July 30 Mrs. Emma Cranmer and Mrs Emily Crandall, twin sisters, who have spent practically their entire lives in Springville, Monday observed ob-served their eighty-second birthdays. No special celebration was giv en in their honor, but a number of relatives and friends called during dur-ing the day. Mrs. Cranmer spent the day with her daughter, Mrs. Ann Nelson, at Spanish Fork. The sisters were born in Sprine- ville July 30, 1863, daughters of William and Christina Alleman Sumsion. They have been closely associated throughout their lives, taking active part in church and community affairs.' During their earlier lives, each has held an executive ex-ecutive position in the various church organizations. They are charter members of the D. U. P. camps. Both are widows and each have a son and a daughter. Frank Cranmer, SpringvUle, and Mrs. Ann Nelson, Spanish Fork, are the son and daughter of Mrs. Cranmer, and D. Ford Crandall, Salt Lake City, and Mrs. Charles Thorstensen, Ogden, are the son and daughter of Mrs. Crandall. Mrs. Cranmer has seven grandchildren grand-children and Mrs. Crandall has three grandchildren. FAMILY MEMBERS ENJOY REUNION FIRST WARD YOUNG PEOPLE AT GATHERING M Men and Gleaners' of the First ward enjoyed a Fireside Chat on Sunday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Bybee, with their daughter, Marie Dean, acting act-ing as hostess. Highlighting the program were talks of their experiences in foreign for-eign countries given by Lt. Joe Salisbury, Lt. Don Bird, Pvt. Ted Miller and Staff Sgt. Monte Gus-tin. Gus-tin. Also Mrs. Mary Bird entertained enter-tained with piano selections and the group also enjoyed community commun-ity singing. At the close of the program, tasty refreshments were served to about 35 members and guests. NAVY MOTHERS CONDUCT MEETING A regular meeting of the Navy Mothers was conducted Wednesday Wednes-day evening, at Memorial hall, under un-der direction of Mrs. Marie Morgan. Mor-gan. The program of the evening included in-cluded vocal solos by Thora Whiting, Whit-ing, accompanied by Mrs. Mary Bird, and an interesting review of the book, "She Wanted To See," by Mrs. Rea Straw. Tasty refreshments were served at the conclusion of the meeting and a set of dish towels on which tickets had been sold, were presented pre-sented to Mrs. Ella Giles. A large crowd of Navy Mothers and guests were in attendance. Members of the family of Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Best enjoyed a reunion re-union Sunday at Fairmont Park, Salt Lake City. A sumptuous picnic lunch and games were enjoyed by the group. In attendance were Mrs. Evelyn Walker, Mrs. Margaret Rideout, Mr. and Mrs. Marlin Strong, Mrs. Relia Henstrom and their children all of Salt Lake City; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Best of Ogden, Miss Betty Harmon, Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Best, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar S Best and daughters, Paul Best, Spring, ville, and Mrs Lucille Booke and children of Provo. DINNER HONORS VISITING SERVICEMEN Mr. and Mrs. Lester Hansen entertained en-tertained at dinner at their home on Sunday, complimenting Stewart Whiting Q. M. 3c, who is home on leave from the Aleutians. Other Oth-er guests included his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Whiting, Christine Chris-tine Whiting, Shirley and Phyllis Hansen. On Tuesday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Hansen entertained at a dinner din-ner at their home in honor of Lt. Harold Gividen, who is also home on furlough. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vance Gividen, were also guests. FIDELITY CLUB ENJOYS MEETING Members of the Fidelity club were delightfully entertained on Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Ann Johnson. Cards and a lunch were delightful features of the party with prizes going to Mrs. Rose Roylance, Mrs. Mary Johnson John-son and Mrs. Margie Davis. Mrs. Bernice Cranmer was a special guests of the evening and seven club members attended. DINNER CTVEN FOR VISITING RELATIVES Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Hutchings entertained at a dinner at their home on Sunday complimenting Mr. Hutchings" sister, Mrs. Arthur Soller and son Phillip of LaCrosse, Wis., also her prother, T4 Russell Snelson, who recently returned from Europe, and his wife, of Provo. FRIENDS AT FAREWELL PARTY Complimenting Mr. and Mrs. Earl Lundquist before leaving for Salt Lake City, Mr. and Mrs. Verl Whiting entertained a few friends at their home Thursday evening. Cards were the diversion of the evening, with prizes for the games going to Mr. and Mrs. Thayne La-ney La-ney and Mr. and Mrs. Grant Thorn. Others attending the party were Mr. and Mrs. Cornell Clyde, Mr. and Mrs. Art Hughes. MRS. VERL WHITING ENTERTAINS AT PARTY Complimenting her guest, Mrs. Robert Cranmer, who has been visiting here from Tooele, Mrs. Verl Whiting entertained at a bridge party at her home Friday. The entertaining rooms were beautiful with a profusion of summer sum-mer 'flowers and a nicely arranged lunch was served by the hotess to the following friends: Mrs. Elaine Green, Mrs. Elaine Prussee, Mrs. Faye Lundquist, Mrs. Dorothy Harrison of this city, Mrs. Vivian Gardner, Mrs. Afton Isaac, Miss Esther Mae Jex of Spanish Fork, Mrs. Elaine Fisher Fish-er and Miss Isabel Hales of Provo. |
