Show Rodeo Royalty Selected To Reign Over Springville July 4th Festivities The newly-made rodeo grounds on the west limits of Springville provided a perfect setting for the Fourth of July queen contest conducted Saturday evening under the sponsorship of the Hobble Creek Riding club. Janice Bringhurst was fleeted queen, while Shirley Child and Janice Price of Lehi will reign as her attendants. The royal three will preside over the two days of rodeo entertainment planned for Saturday July 2 and Monday July 4, under the direction of the Riding Rid-ing club. The judges had a difficult job selecting the queen from a group of appropriately attired rider contestants. con-testants. Each one exhibited her skill before a large and appreciative apprecia-tive audience assembled at the new grounds for this celebration preview. Following the selection of the queen, the crowd was entertained by the Riding Club memhers in unique and entertaining stunts and relay games all performed on horseback. Max Sumsion, drill captain was in charge of this phase of the entertainment. The entire program was intersperced with music. According to Murray Peay, Riding Club president, program plans for the big Fourth of July entertainment are practically complete. Only a few details remain re-main to be worked out for the city's big celebration. The. amateur rodeo will be held the evenings of July 2 and July 4, at the well lighted 'grounds which has also ample seating capacity ca-pacity for a large crowd. New stock pens and other rodeo equipment equip-ment are all complete for the performances. On Saturday afternoon, Fred Childs will conduct a state-wide motor propelled model airplane contest. The morning of 'the Fourth, the beards will be judged and throughout the day concessions conces-sions and child's games and contests con-tests will be featured. A patriotic program and a band concert on the city park is planned for the afternoon with a mammoth parade in the evening, beginning at 6 p.m. The rodeo performance will conclude con-clude the celebration. |
