Show DUP SETS ANNUAL STATE MEETING OCT. 4 IN SALT LAKE Folk songs and customs of the Utah pioneers and of the countries coun-tries from which they came will feature the annual fall convention of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers Oct. 4 in the Hotel Utah, Kate B. Carter, DUP president, announces. Beginning at 10 a. m., with a rendition of pioneer songs by Nora P. Richardson and Mabel J. Isgren, the convention will be welcomed by Mayor Earl J. Glade of Salt City. A discussion and report of the DUP's historical monument marking activity during the past year will be given, followed by a concert of western songs by Addison Addi-son Ritchie. A noon luncheon will be held at which county presidents will report re-port local activities. The afternoon session will be highlighted by special native music mu-sic and dancing by Indian girls from Duchesne county. Motion pictures of the Centennial celebra-tidon celebra-tidon will also be shown. An evening folkway program beginning at 7:30 p. m., will feature fea-ture native dances and music from Mexico, Scotland, Denmark, Netherlands and Switzerland. The evening will be climaxed by a pioneer pio-neer quadrille by Morgan county representatives under the direction direc-tion of Mrs. Elsie Bell. |
