Show Theme of Love And War In Outstanding Film The theme of "Johnny in The Clouds," Anatole de Gunwald's latest film offering, is that of love and war. Coming to the Riv- oli Theatre on Wednesday through United Artists release, it is a vivid and beautiful pictorial chronicle of the lives of a group of English and American flyers during those crucial cru-cial years before the tide of battle bat-tle turned against the Germans. It is the story of their "missions", "mis-sions", although there is not a single battle sequence. It is the story of their loves, of the impact of their private lives on war and of the war on their private lives. In 1940 Flight Lieut. David Archdale, played by Michael Redgrave, Red-grave, is stationed at Halfpenny Field, near the little town of Shep-ley, Shep-ley, England. But every now and then he has a free evening which he spends with Miss Todd, who is portrayed by Rosamund John. Newly arrived at the field from flight school is Peter Penrose, player by John Mills. Peter falls in love with Iris Winterton, who is played by Renee Asherspn who stays with her aunt, played by Joyce Carey. Their romance is shattered by Toddy's tragedy.
