Show 'COMMITTEE ASKS CHECK OF FIRE HAZARDS Members of the Fire Prevention Preven-tion committee of the Chamber of Commerce including Reed Rig-trup, Rig-trup, Blaine Thorpe, W. E. Dunn, Earl Sumsion, Miles Curfew and A. B. Snyder, met with the city council Monday evening in regard to fire hazards in this city. The committee requested the council to check city laws which deal with fire safety and if they are not efficient and up-to-date, to revise such laws. The second request was that the city provide a fire inspector and given him authority to enforce safety rules. Third, the committee asked that an immediate inspection be made of all school, buildings, show houses, hous-es, dance halls, churches, hotels and any public building' where fire might cause loss of life. The committee com-mittee further asked that the city either declare the buildings safe or condemn them. In response to immediate action asked by the committee, the council coun-cil passed a resolution during the evening authorizing the fire chief .1 and assistant, together with the city building inspector, to inspect buildings to determine if aj fire hazard exists and to report same to the council. Also, they are given giv-en authority to se that all rulings in regard to fires are enforced. |
