Show GIVE A THOUGHT TO THE MAIL MAN , Give a thought this year to the foot-sore mail carrier, car-rier, who probably trudges more weary miles during the week preceding Christmas than does old, Santa Claus himself. His mail sack is heavy and each year it gets heavier heav-ier as friends make more friends and the custom of sending everybody a Christmas greeting, via a card, ' becomes more popular. You can help spare your mail carrier's bunions and incidentally speed delivery of yours and everybody every-body else's Yuletide letters, Christmas cards and packages by heeding the post office department's suggestions. Shop now get your Christmas mail and packages pack-ages off as early as possible. It will save you time in the long run. It will help your neighbor and the postman. Wrap your gifts securely. Address them plainly Aunt Susie may be able to decipher your handwriting, handwrit-ing, but not all postmen carry magnifying glasses and crystal balls. Also, remember to register important leteters and insure valuable packages. Check to see if you have put the complete address ad-dress on each letter, card or package. Include the city zone numbers if possible. You may send Christmas cards unsealed as third class matter, but such mail is not forwarded. So if you want to make sure the card reaches the person for whom it is intended, place a 3-cenfr stamp on it and seal it. They are more personal that way and if your friend has moved, the card will be forwarded. Remember that air-mail for letters and Christmas Christ-mas cards is only a nickel, and it will get them to distant dis-tant points more quickly, especially if you slip up on the shop early suggestion. |
