Show Springville Art Featured In County Exhibit At State Fair The colorful productivness and artistic features of Utah county portrayed in the annual county exhibit at the State Fair in Salt Lake City received a special award of merit No awards of first, second or third place were given for the exhibits this year, according to Sheldon Brewster, fair manager. The special awards were the only distinction given to the various exhibits. The exhibit which was designed design-ed and created toy Richard Gunn, art teacher at the BY high school, formerly of Springville, represented represen-ted the various aspects of art in Utah, county and included the many products of the field which are produced in the county. The theme was worked around an artist's pallet which contained baskets of onions, grapes, potatoes, pota-toes, peppers, apples, etc., representing repre-senting the varied colors used by the artist in painting. Three large sized brushes were constructed using wheat as the brush. This 15 foot pallet was surrounded by a panorama of drawings with the Springville high school are gallery as the center, representing the artistic contribution of Utah county to the state. Other drawings told of the art of cultivation, art of fine steel making, art of complete recreation, re-creation, the art of culture and many others all depicting the various var-ious aspects of artistic endeavor in Utah county. County Commissioner Reed Knudsen and S. B. Boswell and Joel Barlow of the county agent's office were in charge of the exhibit ex-hibit arrangements for the fair. |
