Show Steed Memorial Art Books Soon Off Press . Catalogues Contain History, iMcture of Donors; Information On Pictures For the benefit of art patrons and others who visit the Steed Memorial Art Collection at the High school, approximately 3000 catalogues are being printed for distribution the latter part of this month or early in February, according ac-cording to Mrs. Mae Huntington of the high school art committee, who has charge of compiling material ma-terial for the booklet. On the cover of the catalogue will be inscribed. "Catalogue of A. Merlin and Alice W. Steed, Memorial Mem-orial Collection, Presented to the Springville High School Art Gallery, Gal-lery, Oct. 4, 1948," together with a picture of Mr. and Mrs. Steed. There will be approximately 25 pages containing a biography of the donors, former Utahns, now residing in California. It will tell briefly how they came to collect the fine paintings now to be seen at the high school gallery, and of their decision to contribute them to the high school art gallery. Included also in the catalogue are several paragraphs entitled "In Appreciation," and the remainder re-mainder of the booklet is taken up with a list of the 128 pictures contained con-tained in the famous memorial collection, col-lection, together with a brief sketch of the life of the various artists. The catalogues are being printed by the Art City Publishing Company Com-pany of Springville. |
