Show 'Mudhen' Becomes Whitebill' Now For years, hunters have shot the coot or mudhen and then tossed toss-ed the waterfowl away in disgust, dis-gust, despite opinions of experts that the "mudhen" was as edible as any other duck. - At a recent meeting of Ducks Unlimited, according to information informa-tion received by the State Fish and Game department, the sportsmen sports-men voted to change the common name of "mudhen" to "whitebill," and as such, the coot is expected to join the other waterfowl on the average bill of fare. Investigations have shown the "mudhen" or "whitebill" does not j eat fish and mud as commonly suspected, but that its diet is as clean as any ducks. So it's "white-bills" "white-bills" now, brother, and any duffer duf-fer should get a bag of them. |
