Show Civic Representatives Conduct Meet Purpose of Meeting Was To Discuss Means To Stimulate Interest In Art Movement; To Discuss Means Of Raising Permanent Fund A large and enthusiastic group comprising representatives from practically every civic organization as well as federated women's clubs of this city, met with the Springville art board Tuesday afternoon, after-noon, at the high school art building. The purpose of the meeting was to stimulate interest in the art movement in this city, and to make people more conscious of April as the art month, especially especial-ly since cancellation of the national na-tional art exhibits. The meeting was also for the purpose of discussing the proposition proposi-tion of raising finances to be placed in a permanent fund to give permanency to the annual art show when it becomes possible pos-sible to carry on the project. Contributions by individuals was discussed as one means of raising funds, and it was pointed out that an individual contributing $100 to the art fund is named as a benefactor, bene-factor, and the name is placed on the bronze plaque in the lobby of the art building. Likewise, an organization or-ganization contributing $250 to the fund has its name placed on the plaque. During the meeting, it was suggested sug-gested that each club and other organizations in the city appoint a committee to keep the organization organiza-tion alive to the importance of the art project. J. W. Grant, president of the Kiwanis club, reported that the club had planned to conduct its annual art meeting on April 26, in the art building, as has been the custom in other years. It was suggested that other similar meetings be resumed as a means of keeping up interest in the project. It was decided to adopt a slogan slo-gan of, "Know Your Permanent Art Collection," for the month of April, and the mayor will be asked ask-ed to make formal proclamation of the month of April as "Art Month," in Springville. It was also suggested at the meeting, that the art booklets be sold to each club member as a means of raising funds and of acquainting club members and others with the permanent collection. col-lection. The pictures in the high school permanent collection are to be hung and the gallery arranged for visitors during the month of April, and a special invitation is extended to the public to see the pictures in the permanent collection. collec-tion.
