Show Mortality Rate For Utah Gains Slightly In 1940 While noting declines in the Utah pneumonia and infant mortality mor-tality rates, the semi-annual report re-port issued today by Dilworth Walker Jr., statistician for the state department of health, covering cov-ering the first six months of 1940, disclosed that the general mortality rate for the period was slightly higher than for the same period last year. The report showed that there ere 2,450 deaths in the first half of this year, indicating an annual death rate of 8.9, while in the same period of 193 9 there were 2,353 deaths, and an 8.6 rate. The most important improvement improve-ment was the drop in pneumonia deaths, from 149 to 110, the report re-port set forth. |
