Show TANKS ARE BIG FACTORS IN WAR Joseph Stalin is talking hard sense when he says this is a "war of tanks." The experience of the battlefield lends emphasis to his words and demonstrates conclusively that the victory will belong to the side with the greatest industrial capacity, as measured by production in action on the firing line. The United States, we are told, made 500 tanks in 1940, will make 5,000 this year and more than 25,-000 25,-000 next year. Some of them will go to our army, others will be shipped to foreign nations for use in fighting aggressors. The present monthly production of tanks is estimated at 600 monthly, month-ly, 325 light 13 -ton tanks and 275 medium 30-ton tanks. The heavy tank is under study, with military experts dubious of its value. |
