Show Recent Bride Honored oAt Thistle Shower HUSBANDS WERE GUESTS AT THE AUXILIARY MEET on Wednesday evening at Memorial Memor-ial hall, directed by President Mar-jorie Mar-jorie Frandsen. To feature the program, W. W. Brockbank spoke on the subject, "National Defense." Other enjoyable enjoy-able program numbers included a reading by Lois Rigtrup; a vocal duet by Mrs. Floss Phillips and Mrs. Nell Condie, and a selection by the Legion auxiliary chorus. Concluding the meeting, tasty refreshments were served to approximately ap-proximately 45 members and guests. Hostesses for the occasion were Mrs. Delia Angus, Mrs. Thelma Clark, Mrs. Lola Weight, Mrs. Hazel Walker, Mrs. Lela Packard, and Mrs. Cecil Robertson. MRS. WILL CLARK WAS HOSTESS ON MONDAY evening to members of the Social Twelve club at Valley Tavern. From a long table with a beautiful centerpiece of fruit suggestive of Thanksgiving and tall tapers at either end, a delicious luncheon was served at 8 o'clock. Later contract bridge was played, with Mrs. W. H. Brown winning high score prize. Attending were twelve club members and the hostess. The next club meeting was announced for December 3, at the home of Mrs. Bert Rowland. MR. AND MRS. L. E. HARMER HAD A FAMKLY DINNER at their home in Mapleton Sunday honoring Mr. and Mrs. Louis A. Johnson, visiting here from Cedar City, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Miller and daughter, Nancy, of Emery, and Wells Johnson of Ogden. Others attending were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Thorn. I S In honor of Mrs. Ernal Underwood, Under-wood, a recent bride, the former Elthora Moulton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ercel Moulton of this city, a miscellaneous shower was I given on Thursday by Mrs. William Underwood and her daughters at the Thistle amusement hall. Guests were received by the bride and Mrs. Lester Underwood. The former was dressed in a pretty shell pink marquisette over pale blue taffeta. During the afternoon, games were played and prizes awarded to Ferl Moulton, Mrs. Lester Underwood, Under-wood, Elaine Anderson, Mrs. Jennie Jen-nie White, and Mrs. Delia Peterson. Peter-son. The guest of honor received many lovely gifts, and a delicious luncheon was served to about 60 guests, including many from Springville and surrounding towns. MR. AND MRS. IRA ALLEN GAVE A PARTY for a number of friends at their home in Mapleton on Saturday evening. Progressive 500 was enjoyed, en-joyed, together with a delicious lunch. Prizes for the evening's games went to Mrs. Fay Dibble and Mrs. Bud Peterson. The guest list included Mr. and Mrs. Burton Warren, Mr. and Mrs. Fay Dibble, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Bills, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Diamond, and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Snow. R. L. MENDENHALL WAS GUEST OF HONOR at a family dinner in celebration of his 68th birthday at his home on Sunday. Two sons, Earl and Wendell Mendenhall, of San Francisco, Fran-cisco, Calif., unable to be at home, sent a telegram and also called him over the phone to extend felicitations. |
