Show ARMY COOKS SAVE USED GREASE FOR WAR EFFORT Military cooks in the Ninth Service Ser-vice Command have recovered 4,676,602 pounds of used grease and 8,049,634 pounds of meat scraps and bones since Jan .1, as part of the Army's widespread conservation program. Besides yielding valuable materials mater-ials needed in the war effort, the Army realized $275,705.99 from the sale of those products, it was reported today at the headquarters headquar-ters of Major General David Mc-Coach Mc-Coach Jr., Commanding General of the Ninth Service Command, Army Service Forces, at Fort Douglas. The Army Conservation Program, Pro-gram, effecting all military installations instal-lations and which includes salvage and reclamation of clothing, textiles, tex-tiles, rubber, leather, glass, paper, oil and all other items, has been in force approximately two years. The grease, meat scrap and bone salvake is one part of the vast program which is returning hundreds hun-dreds of thousands of dollars to the government monthly. tJ |
