Show PIPE COMPANY MEN LOSE FIGHT FOR PAY Claims of more than 300 employees em-ployees of the Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe company for unemployment unemploy-ment compensation for the period during- which they were on strike, from July 15 to August 19, were denied by Floyd T. Atkin, appeals referee for the state department of employment security. The amount of the claims, approximately ap-proximately $20,000, was considered consider-ed less important than whether the state law made mandatory payment of benefits to men out on strike under such circumstances, it was reported. I Mr. Atkin said: "I reached the conclusion that the violation of federal labor laws did not apply at the time of the strike, therefore the strike was not an immediate result of violation of the national labor relations law." |
