Show DON R. ANDERSON TO GRADUATE FROM AIR SCHOOL Donald R. Anderson, son of Dr. and Mrs. John R. Anderson, 357 South Main street, is expected to graduate from the Air Corps Basic Flying School at Montgomery, Montgom-ery, Alabama, about March 5, 1941. Prior to his arrival at the school, he was attending the Air Corps Primary Training school at the Darr Aero Technical school, Albany, Georgia, where he obtained obtain-ed about 60 hours in the air and made his solo on October 31, 1940. Anfferson was appointed a flying cadet on October 13, 1940. Officials of the Basic Flying school state that he reported there January 2, 1941, as a member of class 41-D, which is expected to graduate to the Advanced Flying school, Maxwell Field, Alabama, about March 5 for the final stage in their training. Anderson has indicated his desire to be assigned to bombardment organizations upon up-on the completion of his training at the Advanced Flying school. Lieutenant D. G. McPhearson, air corps, has been assigned as his instructor, in-structor, and has supervised his flying through ten hours of basic training flying. A large part of the cadet's time in the air is solo flying fly-ing when he is on his own. Lieut. Col. Aubrey Hornsby, air corps, commanding officer of the Basic Flying school, has stated that in addition to the flying course, the cadets must complete courses in airplane and engine operations, meteorology, military hygiene, military law, radio code, and radio communications. These courses will be continued at the advanced school in addition to several more advanced courses. Before joining the air corps, Anderson attended the Brigham Young university for two years, where he was taking a pre-medlcal course. |
