Show BANQUET HONORS VISITING POSTAL OFFICER Walter Meyers, fourth assistant postmaster general from Washington, Washing-ton, D. C, was the principal speaker at a banquet and program given in his honor by the local Chamber of Commerce, the Kiwanis club, and the Junior Chamber of Commerce, last Wednesday night at the high school Art building. The visiting official was in Springville Spring-ville especially to inspect the new federal post office building now nearly half completed. Describing fear, love, hunger and vanity as the four great motivating motivat-ing forces of humanity, Mr. Meyers Mey-ers paid tribute o the early pioneer pio-neer settlers of this community and to the country as a whole. He complimented com-plimented Springville on the new federal building and for its other industrial enterprises. In company with Mr. Meyers was Postmaster I. A. Smoot of Salt Lake City, who also spoke briefly. Mayor A. O. Thorn welcomed wel-comed the group, and Postmaster J. Emmett Bird of Springville, and W. W. Clyde, president of the Chamber of Commerce, in charge of the program, were the other speakers. Musical entertainment was furnished fur-nished during the evening by Miss Helen Palfreyman, who gave a vocal solo, and Miss Louise Clyde, who rendered accordion selections. |
