Show u Miss Garnick Weds Mr. Zobell At Beautiful Home Wedding Ceremony S) . THE MAPLETON RELIEF . SOCIETY MET TUESDAY in their regular summer monthly month-ly meeting:. The ladies did hand work while listening to an excellent program which included a vocal solo, "Schubert's "Schu-bert's Serenade,"' by Orpha Dee Bird; piano selections by Evelyn Mackley, and a review of the book, "What's In Life," by Norma Wilkins. The next meeting will be held the second Tuesday in July. Before an improvised altar of snapdragons, roses, and peonies, Miss Winifred Garnick and Walter Zobell spoke nuptial vows Saturday Satur-day night at the home of the bride, with President J. Emmett Bird officiating. of-ficiating. Immediately following the ceremony cere-mony a reception was held, with approximately 100 relatives and friends calling during the evening to extend best wishes to the young couple. The bride wore a lovely gown of pink crepe and carried a bouquet of pink and white rosebuds. The maid of honor was Miss Dorothy Van Schaack, and she wore blue and white crepe and carried a nosegay of red and white rosebuds. Also in the receiving line besides be-sides the bride and groom were Mr. and Mrs. Ford Burt, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Zobell, Mrs. Martha Hill, and the best man was EverJ Garnick. Serving was in charge of Mrs. John T. Burt and Mrs. Jessie Ar-rowsmith. Ar-rowsmith. The Misses Golda Webb and Lorene Maag poured. Also assisting as-sisting with the serving were Miss Joy Arrowsmith and Miss Nadine Burt. The serving table was covered with a beautiful lace cloth and the centerpiece was of pink and white rosebuds. Pink tapers in crystal candelabra were at either end. Mrs. Walt Lewis of Provo and Mrs. Woodrow Fillmore were in charge of the gifts. Mrs. Mae Huntington and Mrs. J. E. Robinson were hostesses. Music in the form of vocal numbers num-bers were given by Annie and Lula Fox, Dorothy Van Schaack, Don Humphrey, Mrs. J. E. Robinson, Robin-son, and A. L. Abbey. Louise Clyde was the accompanist. A feature fea-ture of the program entertainment was advice to the newlyweds given by Mrs. Ella Reynolds. The young couple plan to make their home in Springville. PARANADA CLUB MEMBERS WERE ENTERTAINED at an interesting and well arranged arrang-ed party Thursday night at the home of Miss Virginia Simkins. Luncheon was served early in the evening and carried out a South African theme. Miniature native huts were given as favors. Later in the evening Max Sim-kins Sim-kins gave an interesting and informative in-formative talk on South Africa and the customs and habits of its peoples. peo-ples. The talk was augmented with an interesting display of souvenirs, pictures, and various things which Mr. Simkins had brought back from South Africa. Those present were LaVern Singleton, Sin-gleton, Teddy Thorpe, Virginia Rivers, Fern Ostler, Mary Boyer, and the hostess, members, and Virga Bartholomew, Elizabeth Harmer, Har-mer, Fern Simkins, and Mrs. Geo. Simkins, special guests. |
