Show , . Armed Forces Grant Weierht, son of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Weight, spent a few days of the past week on furlough from the navy visiting his parents par-ents and other relatives. Reed Lamar Carver, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Carver of 286 East First South street, has entered ent-ered the hospital corpsman's school at the U. S. Navy hospital at Farragut, Ida., for a six-weeks six-weeks training period. During his training he is expected to learn much about the care of the injured in-jured and ill from the U. S. Navy forces. On graduation, he will go into service at a navy hospital for a short probationary period and then be transferred to a permanent per-manent assignment, according to report from the training station. Sgt. Harold Thorn, who has been stationed at Kingman, Ariz., returned to camp Tuesday, after spending a few days furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Thorn. Corp., Scott Thorn, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Thorn, is spending a 15-day furlough with his parents and other relatives and friends here. He came from Dawson Creek in the northern part of Canada, in the vicinity of the new Alaskan highway, and it is his first visit home in 18 months. He is to re- port at Dawson Creek on March 4. Lamar Miner, stationed at the basic training center at Kearns, spent the week end with his wife, the former Marjorie Child, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Miner Min-er and other relatives. He expects to be transferred to a school of inspection of meat and dairy products pro-ducts upon completion of his training at Kearns. Don Frandsen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Frandsen, left the past week for the army. He enlisted in the field artillery and is now stationed sta-tioned at Camp Carson, Colo. Fred D. Childs, son of Mrs. Belle Childs, has graduated from Air Forces Technical School as a link trainer instructer, at Chan-ute Chan-ute Field, 111. Fred was inducted on September Septem-ber 16, and after three weeks of basic training at Kearns, was transferred to the air training base at Chanute. Pvt. first class Max Leray Dal-lin, Dal-lin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Morris Dallin, is spending a 10-day furlough fur-lough with his parents and his wife, the former Faye Simmons. He is with the signal sorps of the army, stationed at Camp Crowder, Mo. Blaine Dallin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Morris Dallin, is among those who will leave on Friday to join the U. S. armed forces. Capt. Warwick Palfreyman left Wednesday, to return to his post in northern Canada, following a three week furlough spent with relatives and friends here. Word has been received that Lyman Ly-man Madsen has been advanced to the grade of seaman first class in the U. S. navy. A son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Madsen of this city, he enlisted in the navy in, July, 1942. Ivan D. Pierce, son of Mrs. Mary E. Pierce of this city, has been promoted to rank of corporal in the U. S. army, according to word received by his mother. He is now stationed at Camp Howe, Texas. He left with the national guard in 1941 and shortly after was given a release and returned home. He was called back into service in November, 1942. |
