Show City Cooperates in Opening Up New Residential Area Proposed plans for expansion of Springville residential resi-dential areas came in for discussion at the city council coun-cil meeting Monday evening, when the croup ap- proved the opening of a new streets east of Eighth East to Canyon Ave., between First and Third South, according to report by Lloyd Ashcraft, city recorder. The property owners in the area agree to deed to the city the necessary neces-sary land for the new street and the city will extend the utilities to the homes when they are built in the area. The street is expected to open up building los for some forty new homes. A proposition to purchase an additional ad-ditional 25 feet of roadway to add to that which the school district has secured from W. R. Eddington for $2500 through his property to the new Westside school, was tabled. The owner wanted $1000 for the property and city officials felt that the school district had purchased all that was needed for children to travel to school. The council further discussed a proposition of supplying electric lights to lots in Kelly's Grove. Councilmen were informed by the city electrician Grant Whitehead, that the cost would be in the neighborhood of $4000. After a discussion dis-cussion of the matter, it was decided de-cided to include the amount in next year's budget if possible. The council also approved a license li-cense to Golden Hansen to establish estab-lish a music instrument repair shop at his home in Brookside and another for a paint shop at 688 South Main to Mr. Peugh. After opennig bids on a 2-ton dump truck for the city, the council coun-cil decided to purchase a truck from the Springville Garage for a bid of $3290. Other bids were submitted by Anderson's of Provo; G. Lowry Anderson, Inc., Central Utah Motor of Provo, all within a few dollars. An ordinance setting forth the cost of the sidewalks in Improvement Improve-ment Dist. 6 together with the assessments to each property owner, own-er, the time and manner of payment pay-ment and other information was (Continued on page Twelve) City Cooperates in Opening Residential Area (continued from page 1) also passed by the council at the meeting. The ordinance listed total cost Of the sidewalk improvement project pro-ject as $5,743.18 which included sidewalks on Fourth South, south side between 8th East and 12th East; 7th South, north side, between be-tween Second East and 4th East and on 7th South, south side from 280 East on 4th East. The amount levied each property owner is $1.32 per foot of sidewalk and in driveways, $1.54 per foot. The assessment is to be paid in ten equal yearly installments, the first installment being due on September 15, the ordinance states. |
