The state titles were firsts for Clark and Hughes and also Monroe. To win the B tourney, the Monroe Mon-roe team had to win a semi-final extra, extra period game over American Pork and then defeat Bingham for the title 42-40 in another extra period hair-raiser Saturday night. They dropped their third game to Lincoln Lin-coln by a 35-34 score to eliminate themselves from the meet. While the kids looked good in spots in the big meet, they never quite played the ball they did throughout through-out the earlier part of the season and were unable to hit their stride. Glen Weight, prospective all-stater rated first member of the 3rd string team. Locally, Coach Wilson and his club did an especially fine job, and while their play at the tourney was disappointing, their efforts should not go unheralded inasmuch inas-much as the B tourney produced one of the finest exhibitions of all-round play by the 16 outstanding outstand-ing teams seen for many a year. The list of teams placing in the B tourney follows: First Monroe Second Bingham Third American Fork Fourth Cedar City Fifth Lincoln Sixth Park City Seventh Moab Eighth Morgan |
