Show House Liked For Architectural Lines f B'.tfmo'-O" I Floor Plan Lq 1 Styled with a conservative approach to modern design, this house expresses many of the best qualities of contemporary contem-porary architecture. Its architectural archi-tectural lines led to its being selected as Plan No. 203 by American Builder magazine, 30 Church Street, New York. Brick, a favorite American material, is used for much of the exterior sidewall area. Stone flanks both sides of the garage door. As another accent, ac-cent, the wide horizontal clapboards clap-boards in the front gable end are painted white. American Builder says, "These materials used in conjunction con-junction with the 4-12 roof pitch have helped to create a house of extreme good taste and excellent proportions. A two-foot roof projection extends ex-tends around the entire peri- meter of the house, providing shade from the hot summer sun for all the windows." The bedroom wing is ideally separated from the combination combina-tion living-dining room. The door leading into the hall of the bedroom wing cannot be seen from the part of the living liv-ing room where the main furniture furn-iture grouping normally would be placed. Sliding doors between the kitchen and the dining room and the kitchen and the side e n t r y are a convenience. Swinging doors that open into a kitchen often interfere with kitchen traffic. The basement is left entirely en-tirely open for future development," develop-ment," the magazine says. 'The 40-foot width permits the house to be built on a 50 foot lot." |
