Show Baseball League Planned Here For Youngsters Under 13 ? Plans are going- forward to organize at least two and possibly four baseball teams for youngsters 12 years and under in Springville to compete in an or- ganized league including Spring-vilie, Spring-vilie, Spanish Fork, Payson on the south and American Fork, Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove and Lehi on the north. According to Recreation director direc-tor George Pehrson, it is planned to have winners of the two divisions divi-sions play off for the title at the conclusion of league play. Director Direc-tor Pehrson is asking for assistance assist-ance in sponsoring these teams and anyone wishing to do so is asked to contact him or any of the recreation board. Sponsors of the teams are being sought and ways and means of getting very simple suits, including includ-ing caps and T shirts only, are being be-ing planned. It is hoped by director direc-tor Pehrson that four teams can be formed in Springville for the city league play. All youngsters are being urged to plan on playing in the league during 'the summer. The Small Fry have been playing play-ing in unorganized, but supervised baseball for the past several years under the tutorship of Director Pehrson and the boys have played a few of the surrounding city's teams. Under the planned setup, if four teams are formed in the city they will compete with winners of Spanish Fork. Payson winners and the winner will compete with the north county winner. It is an opportunity op-portunity to get into the swing of baseball early and provide good wholesome summer recreation, according ac-cording to officers instigating the move throughout the county. |
