' I s i 1 i . - i I V' ' - j I - " v 1 Charles Alleman Funeral Services Held Tues. for Charles Mercian Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon in the Second-Eighth Second-Eighth ward chapel for Charles A. Alleman, 83, life-long resident of Springville, who died Thursday evening of last week at 'the Utah Valley Hospital. He had been living liv-ing with his daughter, Mrs. Avery (Julia) Caine in Provo in the wintertime for the past three or four years. Burial was in the City Cemetery. A retired farmer and stockman, Mr. Alleman was born in Springville, Spring-ville, April 2, 1870. a son of Benjamin Ben-jamin and Sariah J. Starr Alleman. Alle-man. His grandmother was a sister sis-ter of Martin Harris, famous in early dav LDS Chrch history. He attended the Springville schools and the Brigham Young Academy. His first teacher was Marv B." Crandall, one of the first teachers in Springville. Later he studied under Simon P. Eggert-son. Eggert-son. another well known early-day educator. Mr. Alleman manned Hannah D. Hansen of Spanish Fork, Feb. 27, 1899 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was active in the LDS Church and filled a 3 -year mission mis-sion to Samoa. He was superintendent superin-tendent of the Sunday School in the Springville Second ward for many years. He was also a teacher teach-er for many years and served on the Sunday' School stake board of Kolob Stake High Priests Quorum. He was also a president of the 51st Quorum of Seventy for a time. In his older years Mr. Alleman took active part in dramatics in the church. Mr. Alleman also helped to organize or-ganize the Springville Grazing Association. He served as secretary-treasurer of that organization. organiza-tion. His wife died in August 1947. Surviving are one son and three daughters, Lynn Alleman, Springville; Spring-ville; Mrs. Avery (Julia) Caine, Provo; Mrs. Richard (Helen) Ajax, Missoula, Mont.; and Mrs. Jack (LaRae) Davies, Salt Lake City; 8 grandchildren; one greatgrandchild; great-grandchild; and one brother, Harold Har-old Alleman, Los Angeles. |
