Show Founder's Day Program Attracts Parents; Skousen Guest Speaker The Lincoln School Auditorium was filled to near capacity last Thursday evening, when the Lincoln School PTA and the Grant School PTA conducted their annual Founder's Day pro W. Stevens, Mrs. Harold Whiting, Mrs. Max Rowland, Mrs. Blaine Thorpe and Mrs. Elmo Sumsion. As the principals of the two schools, LeRoy Erickson of the Grant and Frank Patton of the Lincoln lighted the blue and yellow yel-low candles which had been placed on either side of a large anniversary anniver-sary cake, a tribute to Founder's Day was given by Mrs. Delbert Melloi'. The Musical program for the evening included a trumpet duet by Frances Rowe of the high school faculty and his son Fred. gram. W. Cleon Skousen of Provo, executive ex-ecutive secretary of the BYU Alumni, was the principal guest speaker, being introduced by Mrs. Melva Harrison, Lincoln School PTA president who presided at the program. Mr. Skousen directed his remarks around the theme of getting get-ting to know ones children better. He outlined characteristics of various var-ious ages making suggestions toward to-ward better understanding of each individual group. He urged that parents not let their boys and girls enter into their teens without a full knowledge of property rights and the value of the truth. Mr. Skousen suggested deprivation of personal liberties as a better punishment for teenagers than physical punishment and he urged parents to become companions to their boys and girls and to put forth an effort to become acquainted acquaint-ed with their problems. In observance of Founder's Day, corsages were presented to the past 'presidents of the Lincoln an.i the Grant School PTA organia-tions organia-tions by the present presidents.
