Show Current Boole Reviewed At Club A most interesting review of the book, "Washington Confidential" Confiden-tial" by James Lait and Lee Mortimer, Mort-imer, was given by Mrs. Berton Groesbeck at the meeting of the Ladies Literary club last Thursday. Thurs-day. The meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Eugene Johnson, club president with Mrs. C. A. Smith, vice-president, in charge. In her review of the book, Mrs. Groesbeck quoted some shocking conditions which exist in the cap-itol cap-itol city in the social and civic as well as governmental departments. Considerable emphasis was placed on the Negro and the problems which the influx of this race, some of whom are undesirable, has brought to Washington, D. C. The book dealt with the unattractive aspects of the city and was critical crit-ical of many of the politicians elected to run our government. A report of the Women's Legislative Leg-islative council was given by Mrs. E. T. Crandall. Preceding the meeting, the hostess hos-tess served a nicely arranged lunch with assistance from her sister, sis-ter, Miss Fay Bjarnson of Spanish Span-ish Fork, who was a guest. |
