Calvin Clyde Clyde, has been given the Theta Tau award which goes annually to the outstanding senior student in engineering at the University of Utah, according to word received re-ceived this week. The award is given by the Professional Engineering Engi-neering Fraternity of the University Univer-sity of Utah. An outstanding, student in all classes, Calvin has a grade average aver-age of 2.93 (straight A is 3.00). He is a member of several honor-continued honor-continued on page Twelve) Calvin Clyde Gets Award at "U" .(Contined from page One) ary and scholastic societies at the "TJ," including Chi Epsilon, honorary hon-orary civil engineering fraternity; Tau Beta Pi, engineering association; associa-tion; Phi Kappa Phi, honorary scholastic society. Membership in the latter - is one of the highest honors given to outstanding students stu-dents and includes all fields of learning. During the past year Calvin has served as president of Chi Epsilon and also as vice-president of the student chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He will graduate from the University of Utah in June and expects to continue his studies next year at the University of California. He spent three years in the army in World War II and also spent two and a half years on a mission to Switzerland and East Germany after the war. He is now a member of the Ensign stake Sunday School Board in Salt Lake City. His wife is the former Brigitta Straumer of Vienna, Austria. They have two children. His wife and his parents were guests at the banquet at which Calvin received the award. |
