W-T General Guest, commanding general of the S gnal Corps of Europe, presents the championship trophy to David L. Miner of Springville, captain of the basketball team which took the tournament at the close of the 516th Signal Corps event at Karlsruhe, Germany. Playing two games each day, one in the morning and another in the evening, David's team took the' first game in the tournament by a score of 119 to 43, setting a new record for the gymnasium. Of the total points David scored 27. rje, with two others from the team were picked to stay in Karlsruhe and play on the regimental team. The Co. A 317th Corps team of which David is captain, won the right to attend the tournament by-winning by-winning in the post round robin play. A son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Miner of Springville, David is leaving February 21 to return to the states and expects to be given his discharge about March 19. He has been in Germany since August, 1953, and has visited most of the European countries. |
