Show ;Map!eton Den Mothers Honored; Scouts Receive Awards at Cub Banquet Friday i i ! The Blue and Gold Cub Scout banquet was held ' in the Mapleton Church Friday night for both of the Mapleton wards. Special guests were district commis- sioner Elwood Loveridge and Bish-; ops Welby Warren and Reed Bennett. Ben-nett. The two bishops presented the boys with an American flag. j Supper .was served at five individual indi-vidual tables with a den of Cub Scouts seated around each table-. , Each table was supervised by a den mother. At the table for den one Kather- ine Harris was den mother and , their table was decorated with a i portrait of George Washington for a center piece. The boys sang a song about Washington. Table two, with Helen Campbell at the head was centered with a portrait of Washington and Lincoln Lin-coln and valentine place cards with the portrait of Lincoln were used. J. M. Campbell told a story of Abe Lincoln. At table three Cora Ellis presided pre-sided and their center piece was a cookie liberty bell and small bell ' cookies were used for place cards. Bruce Palmer played a piano solo. Doris Halvorson was at the head of table four and their center piece was a small covered wagon and a miniature Daniel Boone. Their group sang the Star Spangled Banner Ban-ner with the entire group joining in the chorus. Bobcat awards were presented to Duane Brown, Paul Carnesecca, Tommy Bona, Rodney Fullmer, Bruce Burrows, Allen White and Neil Bennett. Boys receiving Golden Arrow awards were Joe Halvorsen, Carl Harris, J. M. Campbell, Reed Barker, Bar-ker, Tommy Bona, Rudy Carnesecca Carnesec-ca and Glenn Hall. Silver Arrows went to Merrill Hales, Bruce Palmer, Carl Harris, Lynn Hall, Jerry Pulsifer, Gary Clements, Reed Barker, Tommy Bona, Rudy Carnesecca. A lion badge was presented to Terry. Hjorth. Scout leader Leonard Harris was in charge of the banquet. |
