Show First Tax Refund Checks Go Out The first 1000 Federal Income Tax refund checks were mailed to taxpayers on January 24, 1955 by the Salt Lake City Regional Disbursing Dis-bursing Office according to District Dis-trict Director Charles I. Fox. The total amount of these refunds was $77,967,82, an average of $77.97 per taxpayer. These are the first of an estimated 160,000 refunds which will be issued by the local office. Mr. Fox stated. Taxpayers are urged to file their returns as soon "as possible after they receive the forms W-2 from their employers. The forms W-2 should be securely fastened to the front of the 1040 or 1040-A filed by taxpayer. |
