Show Switch on Lights, Turn off Polio, Theme of Drive v Townspeople are being asked to turn on their porch lights Thurs- . day evening tonight and make a contribution to turn off polio. The Mothers March from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. will climax a most intensive drive in Springville and vicinity to raise funds with which to combat the disease and to finance fin-ance methods and means to treat victims already stricken. Every home is expected to be 'visited during the drive and citizens citi-zens are tsked to turn on porch lights as a signal that they wish to contribute. Mrs. Verl Whiting is general chairman of the Mothers March and assisting her as district sup-ervisors sup-ervisors are Mrs. E. T. Crandall, Mrs. Jay Smart, Mrs. Willard Ost-dund, Ost-dund, Mrs. D. ,E. Moss, Mrs. David Kendall, Mrs. Bliss Packard, Mrs. Stanley Nielson, Mrs. John Jelli-son. Jelli-son. The ladies assigned blocks will each carry a milk bottle in which the contributions can be dropped. Other Contributions In the meantime, other activities are expetced to bring Springville's contributions high. At LeMar's Cafe on Highway 91, Thursday, January 29, all day, from 7 a.m. until 2 a m. will "Eat What They Like and Pay What They Like and all the money will go for polio. The employees will donate their work and the cash register will be used only to make change. LeMar's Cafe was recently remodeled re-modeled to take care of larger crowds. Auction On Friday, January 30, Manager Whit Levanger of the Union Stock Yards, north Salt Lake, is giving a small beef, a lamb and a hog which will be auctioned off and the proceeds contributed to Springville's Spring-ville's polio drive. Jayceo Wives At the public card party sponsored spon-sored by the Springville Jaycee Wives Monday evening, $150.50 was raised for the March of Dimes. Merchants donated many fine articles art-icles which were auctioned off. The ladies made cakes which were served and sold and an enjoyable time was had by those who attended at-tended the party. The Jaycee Wives also desire to thank all who assisted in any way in making the event a big success. |
