Minutes of City Council Meeting Held Monday Evening at City Hall The regular- meeting of the Springville City Council was held Monday, April 1, 1957 at 7:30 p.m. in the Council chambers. cham-bers. Mayor A. W. Cherrington was in the chair. Roll call showed the following follow-ing present: CI. Emest A. Strong, Jr., CI. Harold J. Whiting, Whit-ing, CI. Ralph Child, CI. J. Grant Nielson, and Recorder Lloyd J. Ashcraft. CI. William G. Ruff and City Attorney "' . . A ;7jl . ., - - Jackson B. Howard were out of town and excused. Prayer was offered by Mayor A. W. Cherington. The minutes of the previous meeting held Monday, March 18, 1957, were read and approved. approv-ed. Robert Anthon, repi'esenting the High School, was present regarding advertising in the year book. The Council approved approv-ed a full page add. Joe White, President of the Jaycee's, was present regarding regard-ing City participation in the Christmas treat project. The Council approved payment of $100.00 to help defray the expenses. ex-penses. Amos Dallin and two other property owners ,were present with a proposed plan to open up a street south of 8th south and approximately 7th east. The Council recognized the need for such a street and encouraged them to follow through with it. The Mayor and City Council expressed their appreciation for the support of the schools, clubs and the citizens in the City cleanup. Some of the clubs have asked ask-ed permission to install a fire place and playground equipment on the Memorial Park; the location lo-cation to be approved by the Council. CI. Nielson presented a preliminary pre-liminary plot plan of a subdivision subdi-vision south of 8th south and east of 2nd east. It was moved by CI. Child and seconded by CI. The abutting property owners in the district assessed on the front footage to cover the costs. It was reported that Harvey Robbins has failed to follow through on annexation to the City of Park-Ro-She property, which he agreed to do. Moved by CI. Whiting and seconded by CI. Nielson the Mayor be authorized to sign a controlled access agrement with the State Road Commission for the construction of highway 89, a distance of 1.204 miles from approximately sixth south and main street.
