Show Scholarships Go To SHS Seniors Excellent grades and outstanding outstand-ing scholastic records have given two more high school graduates scholarships to institutions of higher learning, it was announced this week. These students are Bliss L. Diamond, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis B. Diamond and Ellis LaVar Engle, son of Mrs. Anna C. Berry. In nationwide competition with outstanding students, Bliss was selected for the freshman class of 1955-56 at the MIT, Massachu-sets Massachu-sets Institute of Technology, in Cambridge, and in connection with admittance, he was offered the freshman competitive scholarship of $600, the award renewable if grades are satisfactory. However, he has declined this scholai'ship in favor of one which he has been offered from the University Uni-versity of Utah. Lewis holds a top place among students of his class having achieved ach-ieved a 3.00 grade throughout high school. He plans to major in the field of electrical engineering. LaVar Engle, an outstanding athlete with a fine scholastic record, re-cord, has received his scholarship to the Utah State Agricultural College. This scholarship carries with it a remission on registration and tuition fees at the time of registration regis-tration at the college. Accompanying Accom-panying notification of the scholarship schol-arship was the note that he had been selected for the award because be-cause of high quality of intelligence intelli-gence and integrity and promise of the future.
