Show US Coast Guard -Seeks High School Graduates The U.S. Coast Guard is eminently em-inently seeking applications from high school seniors and graduates who are interested in careers as Coast Guard officers. Upon completing a four-year course of academic studies and military training, an Academy Cadet Ca-det is awarded a bachelor of science degree in engineering and a commission as Ensign in. the Regular Coast Guard. The Coast Guard Acaremy is located at New London, Connecticut. Connecti-cut. It is among the top ten engineering en-gineering colleges in America, and on par with Annapolis and West Point. Unlike these sister Service Acaremies, however, no Congressional Congres-sional appointment is required to gain admission. Eligibility is based bas-ed on standing of the applicant in a nationwide competitive examination. ex-amination. An applicant must have 15 units of high school credits by June 30, 1957, but three are required in English, two in algebra and one in plane geometry. Application to take the examination this year must be postmarked before January Janu-ary 15, 1957. The examination will be held on February 25 and 26, 1957, in over 100 major cities throughout the country.
