Show Funeral Services Held Here For David Koakes Funeral services were conducted Monday in the Third-Ninth ward church for David P. Noakes, 85, long-time former resident of this city and father of Mrs. Michael Long, who died Wednesday afternoon after-noon in Fairfield, Calif., at the home of a daughter, Mrs. S. N. Danfels with whom he had been staying recently. Mr. Noakes was in Springville with Mr. and Mrs. Long for some -time before going to California. Burial was in the Springville city cemetery, directed by A. Y. Wheeler and Son Mortuary. Born in Springville, August 26, 1870, he was a son of early settlers, set-tlers, John and Susan Childs Noakes. He was the last surviving surviv-ing member of his family. He married Lillian Oakley of Springville October 10, 1894, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died in 1903. He later married Julia W. Pierce and she passed away in 1953. He followed farming and construction con-struction work most of his life. He was active in LDS Church work, holding the position of High Priest at the time of his death. Surviving are four daughters and a son: Mrs. E. D. Johnson, Mrs. H. L. Putnam (Fannie and Bessie) of Helper; Mrs. Micheal Long (Emma) Springville; Mrs. Daniels, California, and D. Oakley Noakes of Centerville; also 18 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. |
