Show Hair Style Talk Heard at Club Trends in hair styles from the modern to ancient days was given by Miss Beth Miller to members of the Ladies Literary Club on Thursday evening at a no-hostess luncheon. Grace was offered by Mrs. G. VV. Sumsion. Among the many interesting facts brought out by Miss Miller were the similarity simi-larity of many hair styles today to those used in early history. She also told the ladies that perfume, hair dyes, coloring of nails and even hands and feet, and permanent perma-nent waves have long been a part of woman's effort to enhance her natural beauty. Cleopatra was the first woman to have a permanent wave, historians say, which was accomplished by use of lotions and heat molds. In speaking of her recent trip to New York to study hair styling Miss Miller commented that women wo-men in the west seem to be more conservative in hair styling than those of the New York area. She also pointed out that the modern trend is still toward shorter hair. With pictures she described various vari-ous hair styles for different age groups suggesting that as women grow older, they should have their hair back and up from the face to lift the facial lines. Mrs. Claude Smith was in charge of the meeting and announced that the next meeting will be held Wednesday, March 18, at the home of Mrs. Lacelle Sumsion with Mrs. William Schreiner in charge of the program. |
