After all installation work is completed, careful testing of the equipment will be made to assure that it will furnish trouble-free service, j It is expected that the two switch- 1 boards will be ready for service by April. The manager said the new equipment was being installed to permit the company to meet the ever-increasing demand for service ser-vice here. In discussing tse growth experienced in this exchange, he pointed out that there were -ITS telephones in service in 1940; this number had grown to 877 by the end of 1945. Today there are over 2100. Before the new switchboards could be installed, it was necessary to remodel- the office to provide additional space. This is the second time in the post-war period it has been necessary to rearrange this office, Snell said. In December, 1949 the business office was moved to its present location in the Springville Bank building. Snell also stated that special equipment was now on order which when connected to the trunk lines between Springville and Provo, would increase the operating efficiency ef-ficiency on calls between these two communities. This change will be accomplished later this summer, he said. |
